The Blindfold is Off!

I did the 40 hour famine on Saturday and Sunday and went without sight. I found it a really big challenge for me because I had nothing to do! I couldn't use my phone or computer or the television. All I had was my iPod which I misplaced at one point. I became an extremely messy eater and probably ended up with more food on the walls and floors than in my mouth. I also had a TOM (Tournament of Minds) meeting on Sunday and had to go to a place I had never been before so that was interesting. I suffered quite a few bruises but it was all worth it. So far, I've raised $110 and I have some other donations on the way.

Halloween isn't far away (okay 2 months away but...) and I'm getting really excited. Halloween is my favourite day of the year. I just love the whole mysterious and magical aspect of October 31st.

One of the things that has been making me continuously laugh over this week are the Old Spice Ads. They're so funny! Here's a link to my favourite one:

End of Live Below the Line

So Live Below the Line ended about 2 weeks ago. I'm reaaally happy to be eating normally again. Every now and then I feel super lucky when I grab a snack from the fridge or have a normal-sized dinner :)
This experience has really opened up my eyes. I always knew that in some places you don't get to eat as much as you like, but feeling hungry all the time for 5 days altered my perspective and I'm glad I did it. I raised $250 all up for education in Cambodia.

I'm going to do the 40 hour famine this weekend, and I'm going to experience being blind for the 40 hours. I think this will be a really interesting experience and I hope it will allow me to appreciate being able to see a little more. Living Below the Line

Hey there :)
Tomorrow will be the start of a long 5 days where I will live on $2 a day for food. I will be able to return to eating as much as I like on Saturday morning but unfortunately 1.4 billion people around the globe will continue to live on $2 a day for all of their basic needs. I hope my efforts will increase the awareness of poverty in developing countries and raise money to open schools in Cambodia, a country that was severely damaged by war and genocide. Education is an important part to ending extreme poverty.

We went fishing and swimming yesterday. It was good fun and the water was so clear I could see the bottom from 5 metres above. I didn't manage to catch anything.

Hey everyone,

I got my first job!!!!! I'm a kitchen hand in a restaurant. I work on weekends so that it won't interfere with schoolwork or anything else. I'm really excited about getting paid :)

Yay! School has almost finished for the term! We have 8 more days to go. I'm glad that I will be able to stock up on clothes and CDs on the holidays.

I'm still doing my knitting but it is coming along at a painfully slow rate. However, i am more than half way so hopefully it will be done soon...

I read a fantastic book a few weeks ago called The Adoration of Jenna Fox. As soon as I started reading it I couldn't stop. I recommend it to teens who likes novels in the thriller genre.

Hey everyone,

I ate my first KFC burger since I came back from Malaysia. I was a little disappointed because I found the 'tower' burger nowhere near as hot as the ones in Kuala Lumpur. In K.L. the sweet chilli sauce nearly burnt my head off! I miss Malaysian KFC... But it was still a very nice change to have a fast food lunch.

Hey everyone!

It's the end of the first week of school! Thank god for weekends!!! Unfortunately, some of the classrooms became flooded and got wrecked by cyclone Dominic. The flooding has left a nasty smell in the carpets so the teachers and children have had to move to other places in the school :(

I'm still reading Dracula by Bram Stoker and I am loving it! It's an original vampire story and I like these vampires even more than the Twilight ones! I have an illustrated version (illustrations by Jae Lee) and some of the drawings seem to say even more than the words on the page next to it. Thinking about this book is making me want to read more so I'm going to get off the computer.

Hey Everyone!

It's my birthday on Friday! Another year older but not necessarily another year wiser hehehe... I'm really happy that I will be able to spend my birthday with my family this year.
I am about to read Dracula by Bram Stoker. My mum recommended it to me once she had seen how much i enjoyed reading the Twilight series. It has also been made into a movie so I am planning to watch it shortly after I have finished the book.

I am back from a 17 day trip to Malaysia. I spent 10 days in Kuala Lumpur and 7 days in Penang with my family. It was amazing to see how people live in different countries. I was totally spun out when I saw the shopping centres! One in particular which was named Times Square I think was more than 10 stories high and had an AMUSEMENT PARK INSIDE IT! My sister and I went crazy and rode each ride at least twice. We rode on the rollercoaster three times and I nearly puked. lol. The air was much more polluted there than here in Australia, especially in Kuala Lumpur. The beach in Penang was beautiful and the food was awesome! Unfortunately, something was being burned on another island close by so that when we looked out our 22 story high balcony, the rest of the island was covered in smog. :( My sister and my dad spent a lot of time in the hotel's swimming pool. So much that my sister's shirt which was once deep blue in colour became very pale green and slightly transparent. I will post pictures of our big holiday once I find my camera cord.......

Hey Everyone!

I am really enjoying my holidays! I am so happy to be back home at last. The year seems to have gone by so fast and so slow at the same time. I have been shopping till my arms fall off!

My Auntie took me and my cousins 'Christmas light looking' the other day. You should have seen some of the houses! Some were so decorated that you could hardly see the house underneath! It was good fun.

I am not expecting too many actual presents this year because shortly after Christmas my family and I will be going on an overseas holiday! This will be my first time travelling overseas so I am very excited. Not to mention the really low prices of the shops and markets. I am really into Emily the Strange and those sort of brands and my mum said that there are shops dedicated to just the specific brand.

Christmas Concert and Awards Night

Hey Everyone!
This evening we had our school's Christmas Concert and Awards night. I MCed the event, played my clarinet for the choir and I participated in the High School's performance item. It was good fun but very tiring. I was surprised that I didn't get nervous on stage which is quite unusual for me. All of the kids had a really good time.

I received two awards this evening! I was very excited. The awards that I received were an English award from SIDE and a Sportsmanship award for Phys Ed. I got a prize with the English award and it was an expensive pen and a letter opener. But that's enough bragging, I would rather talk about the performances.

The kindy and pre-primaries did a very funky and cute sing and dance routine. The children looked adorable in their little cowboy outfits. The year 1s and 2s did a very good job. One girl in particular was outstanding. She got up and sang Teddy Bears Picnic which the rest of the class were dancing to. The years 3 and 4 peformed a play of Jumanji which was really great! The year's 5 and 6 had the best play of all. They impersonated the teachers and principals for it and they really played their parts well. The year 7s and 8s performed a play on the Gingerbread Man but they twisted it so that it was set in the Pilbara. The High School performed their item on Djembe drums. We used a big white curtain infront of us on the stage so that the clapper lights would show our shadows on it. My sister said it looked really effective. My sister participated in line dancing for a different part of the concert. It looked really good when they all moved in synchronisation. She won an award for Art and the prize she received was a cook book so I am looking forward to all the creations she will make these holidays.

Hey Everyone!

I can't believe it! Only a few more days of school! It seems to be dragging on especially now that I am counting down the days. I'm trying really hard to get all the work done. I received part of my report today and I was so happy! I got 4 A's!!!!! *does a little victory dance*

I'm also counting down the days until I get to see Twilight the Movie!!!! My hardcore twilight fan friend (you know who you are) gave it a great review and she has seen it more than 5 times! But I have also seen a lot of negative comments about the movie on a few websites and groups on facebook which worries me but i rely more on my friends than on total strangers lol. I will be going on holiday to Perth soon so I won't be able to post on my blog :(

Hey Everyone!

As you know the ball was held yesterday night. I managed to capture some shots of dresses and jewellery etc but I won't put them on the site in case I find some random angry mothers bashing down my door. Dinner was provided and the feed was humongous! We got dessert afterwards as well so that was a bonus. One of my friends managed to get the Belle of the Ball. She looked gorgeous in her bridesmaid outfit that she wore to her sisters wedding. I seriously think she could be a model. I won the best-dressed high school girl prize because i am the ONLY high school girl so I guess being a loner can pay off. Everyone looked great and i'm really surprised that some of the boys who came could have cleaned up so well. We had one small hiccup. The power went out for about 5 minutes and the WHOLE time they were out people were screaming at the top of their lungs. Then the powerboards all blew up at the front so we had to move the sound equipment to the back of the hall. But in the end the whole thing turned out great. i hope that next year we will be able to have a separate high school ball because we will have a bigger population next year.

Hey Everyone!

Tomorrow night the school ball will be held! It is an attendance ball so people who didn't show up during the year don't get to go. It is STRICTLY formal dress so I had to dig through my cupboards until I found a dress. It wasn't a task for the faint-hearted but I managed. Since it's a district school and it would be awkward for year 5's and 6's to be doing partner dances, we will be doing line dancing only. I will try and post some pics of the night but if i end up only putting mine and Jess's on it's because of permission from other parents blah blah....

Today I finally looked up Bella's Lullaby on youtube and nearly died! It was so beautiful and perfect. It was composed by Carter Burwell. Initially, the lullaby was going to be River Flows in You by Yiruma. I listened to the song by Yiruma but I thought the one by Carter Burwell describes Bella better. Hey Everyone!

WOW! How fast has the year gone? I can't believe its nearly the end of the school year already! I have been finishing off my school work and I have been trying to get as much of it done as I can in my spare time. I recently had to make 3 posters on Ancient Egypt for Society and Environment and about 500 drafts and keywords to go with it. Okay, maybe not THAT much but it was quite a lot. I got cramps in parts of my hands I didn't even know contained muscles.

I can't wait until next year because all of my friends will be coming into the high school part of my district school. I won't be the only girl anymore! yay! It has been fun hanging out with those crazy year 10 and 11 boys though. They are so strange...

Since our high school is expanding quite a bit next year I have heard a rumour that they might split the classes into lower secondary and upper secondary. We will have to see how it turns out.

Speaking of muscles, my knees have been acting up quite painfully lately. Everytime I do something to with exercise they just start paining in different areas each time. We think it is because I played netball when I was about 10 and ever since then they have swollen while I do exercise. I have been hobbling around all day today with nerdy D & T safety glasses on. I think I got a glimpse of how I will look in 50 years time... Scary.

Today my parents banned me from doing homework. lol I know usually its the other way around but I guess I'm strange like that. I'm usually in my room from the time I come home to until dinner time. Anyway, I'm feeling strangely relaxed and I'm really enjoying being lazy for once he he he.

So I thought I would update my blog. I am going to see the Twilight movie this December!!!! OMG I can't wait!!! Jacob is the best <3 style="color: rgb(102, 0, 204);" face="arial">I'm very lucky to have a person like Caitlan in my life. Fortunately, we have been able to keep in close touch this year even though I have moved quite a far way away. She has always been there for me and always gives the best advice. She has the best sense of humour as well. I miss her heaps <3>

Hey Everyone!

It's getting closer and closer to the release date of the twilight movie!!!! It is released on the 11 December and I'm hoping to be able to see it the next time we are in a big city...

I really hope that Robert Pattinson does a good job acting as Edward Cullen. I have seen some sneak photos of him and Kristen Stewart in the movie and he is exactly how I imagined Edward. Kristen is also how I imagined Bella except I have heard they are making her less clumsy in the movie :(
Hopefully Taylor Lautner will do a good job as Jacob Black! I keep thinking of him as Sharkboy though... Boy, that was a shocking movie...

Anyway, I'm reading all of the books again for the 4th or 5th time. I love them all so much! My favourite is New Moon since we get to know Bella and Jacob better and the feelings in the book are pretty descriptive.
